The Applied Knowledge Test is an objective, multiple choice assessment of the foundation knowledge of independent general practice in the United Kingdom within the context of the NHS. Trainees who pass this assessment will have demonstrated their competence in applying knowledge at a level which is sufficiently high for independent practice. The exam includes administrative duties, clinical medicine, critical appraisal/evidence-based clinical practice and health informatics. Our 2-day course is theory based, followed by a mock MCQ computer based exam.

The CSA is an objective assessment of a doctor's ability to integrate and apply the clinical, communication, practical and professional skills that are appropriate for general practice. Our course simulate a typical NHS surgery clinic and we assess a range of scenarios from general practice that are relevant to the curriculum specifically focusing on the necessary aspects of clinical care and expertise.

The WPBA evaluates a candidate's progress in areas of professional practice, for which workplace assessment is required. Workplace assessors review the candidate's performance in their day-to-day practice and their portfolio from real experiences. This method of testing also encourages learning with the underlying theme of patient safety and professional behaviour whilst providing consistent and constructive feedback on any developmental needs. During this stage, the WPBA determines a candidate's fitness to complete their GP training.
